Artist's Comments

This is one of 37 new pieces that were just fired.....two grueling days....all were pieces were exceptional.
The pattern is created by applying 5 different glazes in succession. The firing is outside in a special raku kiln which allows me to remove pots once the glaze has melted....about 1850 deg. farenheit. The glowing pot is placed in a container filled with fine sawdust. It remains in this smoldering container for up to two hours. Then it is removed and cleaned by scrubbing.
This pot measures around 20 inches tall.
